Biogas

The Global Biofuel Alliance was launched in India in 2023 to expedite the uptake of biofuels. This alliance brings together major biofuel producers and consumers, such as the US, India and Brazil. It will facilitate transfer of technologies and mobilization of international climate funds and accelerate energy transition. Experts believe that the demand supply gap for natural gas may go up to 50% by 2040 and grid injection of renewable natural gas produced by biogas upgradation will get significant impetus.
All types of biowaste can be anaerobically digested and the resulting methane rich gas is chemically treated to remove hydrogen sulphide and carbon dioxide. Water is removed by cooling and separation. Methane enrichment of biogas mixture happens in a multibed PSA plant to obtain high purity renewable natural gas which can then be compressed and injected directly into the gas grid or bottled as cylinder packs. As per CII, Indian biogas market is expected to grow from $1.47 billion in 2022 to $2.25 billion in 2029 with a CAGR of 6.3%. GPE in technical collaboration with biogas majors from US and Germany provides modularized biogas upgradation plants meeting the project needs of all sizes and complexities. We are part of the global biogas supply chain and export engineering services, equipment and process modules to upgradation projects in Europe and America. We offer upgraded biogas with high purity using 4 or 6 bed PSA systems which ensure 95 to 98% methane recovery. The entire plant is based on modular design resulting in reduced project lead times, compact layout, easy installation and commission with minimized site activities. We also have teams who provide 24X7 operation and maintenance support at site.

Biogas Upgradation Plants

We have collaborations for Anaerobic digestor design, hydrogen sulphide removal by wet process, carbon dioxide and volatile organic compound removal systems. The heart of the plant is the multibed PSA system which is custom designed by experts based on empirical data, project specifications and gas compositions. We leverage AI and ML to ensure that all critical components of the biogas plant including the anaerobic digesters, bladder tanks, gas sweetening section, upgradation and compression sections are working in sync with variations in feedstock. The product gas meets requirements of RNG grid and CBG.
